Handwoven lampshade based on Cypriot traditional “asproploumia” fabrics. The lampshade has the warm natural colours of the materials it is made fo: cotton, cane, sisal and hemp. They range from the natural colour of cotton to warm yellows and browns. The cane is in woven alternatively with white cotton cord which forms repeated oblong open-work designs. These oblongs develop in a diagonal manner giving a slight spinning effect to the lampshade.

At night when the light of the lampshade is turned on the thick materials are transformed into dark silhouettes and the gaps around them are filled with bright light. This interplay with shadows and light gives an impressive, warm look. An unexpected subtle light- shadow pattern is projected if the lampshade is placed near a wall.

The lampshade is sewn by hand around a specially made wire frame which keeps it taut and safe to send in any country. The wooden base and central pole of the lampshade are handmade. It is ready to use with an electrical installation and plug. Free shipping!
