Handwoven Greek shawl "Arete" with gold stripes made out of seven shades and four types of gold thread.The cotton warp of the shawl is left unwoven at regular intervals giving unexpected shapes when parts of the shawl overlap. It reminds of living creatures such as sea anemones moving in sea water.

The shawl is inspired from Queen Arete's costume which I designed and wove for the theatrical production "Odyssey" played at Cypria festival. The design is based on drawings from pottery of the 5th century BC.

The shawl can also be used for decoration on a dining table or sofa.
